 Indian Navy is a maritime arm of the Indian Army , which with its glorious history of 5800 years, is not only the protector of Indian maritime borders but also of Indian civilization and culture. Equipped with 55,000 navies, the world's fifth-largest navy is involved in military exercises along with other major Allied nations of the world, prominently guarding the security of the Indian border. It is in the direction of making India 's ambition of becoming a major power in the world a success with its effort of continuous modernization over the last few years.

                     Admiral Sunil Lanba is the Chief of Naval Staff of India since June 2014 . The current Naval President of India is Admiral Karambir Singh from 31 May 2019.


Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj


The 17th-century Maratha emperor Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is considered as the 'Father of the Indian Navy'.

Chhatrapati Shivaji maharaj was born in the hill-fort of Shivneri, near the city of Junnar in Pune district of Maharastra on or 19 February 1630.

INS Viraat

INS Viraat – 'Mother' Air Craft Carrier Of Indian Navy. INS Viraat, a Centaur-class aircraft carrier, was the flagship of Indian Navy until 2013 and decommissioned recently after nearly three decades of service with the country's naval force.

       The primary objective of the navy is to safeguard the nation's maritime borders, and in conjunction with other Armed Forces of the union, act to deter or defeat any threats or aggression against the territory, people or maritime interests of India, both in war and peace.

Shano Varuna

The motto of the Indian Navy is- 'Shano Varuna' - meaning 'May the Lord of the Oceans be Auspicious Unto Us'.

         The Indian Navy is a multi-dimensional force that has been organized to safeguard India's maritime territorial integrity and other maritime interests. It is headed by the Chief of the Naval Staff or the CNS. He is of the rank of Admiral and has his headquarters at New Delhi.

        Indian Navy - Indian Navy depends on central government alloted different subsidies, budget through the defense ministry of India while merchant navy are Independent. Merchant Navy - In merchant navy their are two types of jobs : Offshore. Onshore.

       Mainak Bhandari, Darya sarang and Daulat Khan were the admirals of the Maratha navy in Sambhaji's reign. In the years 1678-79 Shivaji Maharaj had started to build naval forts of Khanderi and Colaba near Mumbai to check the alliance between Siddis of Janjira and the British.

 Indian Navy has three different colored uniforms i.e. White, Blue, Black. Indian Navy has majorly 10 uniforms (with some uniform having sub codes also for eg. 6, 6A , 8, 8A) and each uniform is wore under specific conditions and/or depending upon occasions.
